Beginner Guide for Chop Chop Inc: What to Do First
New to Chop Chop Inc? Learn the first priorities: chop, process, craft, sell, reach Stone Wood and the mine shaft, find recipes, and start automation.

Chop Chop Inc gives you a lot to do quickly, but your first goal is not to collect every resource or build a giant factory. Learn the progression loop and keep unlocking the next useful tool, station, or area.
The official Steam page describes that loop clearly:
chop trees → process wood → craft furniture → sell or distribute → reinvest → expand
Use that chain whenever you are unsure what to do next.
Quick start: your first priorities
- Learn clean chopping and resource pickup.
- Process the wood needed for the active objective.
- Build and use the crafting stations introduced by progression.
- Sell finished products instead of hoarding everything.
- Spend money on progression — tools, machines, and required components.
- Follow objectives that open new areas and tree types.
- Move into automation when repetitive manual production becomes the bottleneck.
You do not need a perfect factory in your first hour.
1. Learn the core production loop first
The official game description is built around four actions: Cut, Process, Craft, Distribute.
When an early objective is unclear, ask:
- Do I have the correct raw resource?
- Has it been processed into the required form?
- Am I using the correct crafting station?
- Have I sold or delivered the finished item?
- Is the next objective waiting on an area, tool, or machine unlock?
Do not grind large piles of a resource just because it is available. Progression introduces new materials and stations as the city and story advance.
2. Keep early stations close together
Walking becomes expensive when every basic production step is spread across the map. A simple beginner layout keeps the common route short:
resource input → processing → crafting → finished-item storage or distribution
You can rebuild and optimize later. Early on, clarity is more valuable than a perfect factory.
3. Sell and reinvest
The official Steam page says that furniture becomes profit and that profit is reinvested into better tools, new machines, and faster production.
If a pile of finished furniture is not helping an active mission, it is probably more useful as money than as floor decoration. Do not copy a fixed best early item forever; recipe values and mission requirements can change between patches, while the sell-and-reinvest principle remains useful.
4. Follow progression gates instead of forcing the map
Chop Chop Inc opens new areas and tree types as you progress. When an area seems inaccessible, check the current objective chain before attempting Demo-era jumps or physics tricks.
One important example is the Windmill and Stone Tree route. Community documentation connects Windmill progression to the early route used to reach the Stone Tree area.
If Stone Wood is your current blocker, use the Stone Tree and Stone Wood guide.
5. Stone Wood is a progression material, not ordinary stone
The official Steam page confirms Stone Trees as a distinct special tree type. If an objective asks for Stone Wood, do not spend time mining ordinary-looking rocks and assume they are the same resource. Follow the Stone Tree progression instead.
Full-release players also document that later access to the tunnel area leads to a cave containing many Stone Trees, making it a better source than relying on the early single-tree route.
6. If the mine shaft is your blocker
A repeated post-launch Steam Community route points to the truck tunnel. The useful landmarks are:
- breakable rocks;
- a cave route;
- wooden mine supports;
- hanging lamps;
- Giant Worm and Lava Cave landmarks farther inside.
The Mine Location guide also explains that Shelldon’s quest line gates the dynamite hand-in. If you find the map during this route, continue with the Treasure Map / Find the Treasure guide for the separate buried Beach chest.
7. An unlocked recipe can belong to a different workstation
Owning a blueprint does not automatically mean it belongs to the normal Workbench. Post-launch Steam Community discussions show players finding recipes in the Automatic Furniture Crafter after progressing into the Working Hall.
If a recipe is unlocked but missing, check the Where to Craft Unlocked Recipes guide before farming the same materials again.
8. Start automation when repetition becomes the problem
Automation is an official part of Chop Chop Inc’s progression. Do not automate every step at once. Start with the repeated task consuming the most time, then check whether the next stage can keep up.
- Identify where materials pile up.
- Automate or improve that repeated step.
- Make sure the next station has enough capacity.
- Shorten unnecessary carrying distance.
- Expand only after the current chain is stable.
The goal is to remove the bottleneck slowing your current objectives. Use the Automation Guide when you are ready to connect the machines.
9. Use full-release guides for full-release problems
Chop Chop Inc officially released on August 7, 2026. The Demo is useful for learning the basic gameplay idea, but its limitations and route quirks should not be the authority for the released game.
Use the Demo Walkthrough for the free Demo and the Full-Release Walkthrough for current progression checkpoints.
Character stats and stamina
Exercise equipment that improves character stats appears around the world, including treadmills and weight benches. Release-build player sources describe stamina gains from that equipment as permanent, but no fixed increase per use is published.
For short-term stamina, cook simple food and plan meals before long chopping or bridge-repair runs. Treat exact recovery values as build-sensitive.
Common beginner blockers
“I need Stone Wood.”
Use the Stone Tree guide. The early route is linked to Windmill progression, and the full release later provides more Stone Trees in the tunnel cave according to player sources.
“I cannot find the mine shaft.”
Start with the truck tunnel and breakable rocks. Look for the cave route with wooden supports and hanging lamps, then use Giant Worm and Lava Cave as interior landmarks.
“I bought or unlocked a recipe but cannot see it.”
Check whether it belongs to the Automatic Furniture Crafter or another station rather than the normal Workbench.
“I found a Treasure Map but the normal Beach chest did not finish the quest.”
The map route uses a different buried chest. Hold the map and look for a red X near the Beach teleporter door. The dedicated Treasure Map guide keeps that route separate from the visible boat-side chest.
“My Chester picture objective came back.”
Update the game. Official Hotfix #10 on August 26, 2026 says the issue where Get Chester’s Picture was incorrectly restarted has been fixed. The note does not promise retroactive cleanup for every old save.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do first in Chop Chop Inc?
Learn the official chop → process → craft → distribute loop and follow objectives that unlock useful tools, stations, and areas. Do not try to farm every resource immediately.
When should I start automation?
Start when manual repetition is clearly slowing progression. Automate the current bottleneck first rather than trying to automate the entire business at once.
Where do I get Stone Wood?
From Stone Trees. The official Steam page confirms Stone Trees as a special tree type; community guides document the early Windmill and island route and additional Stone Trees later in the tunnel cave.
Where is the mine shaft?
Post-launch players consistently point to the truck tunnel, breakable rocks, and the cave route marked by wooden supports and hanging lamps. Shelldon’s quest line controls the mine gate.
Why is my unlocked recipe missing?
It may belong to a different workstation. Post-launch discussions specifically show recipes that belong in the Automatic Furniture Crafter in the Working Hall.
